The question in Baltimore is, who is going to replace a legend with the impact and bravado of future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis? Lewis, who gave 17 years to the Ravens, brought home the title for the second time in his illustrious career. Lewis didn’t just retire, but Lewis went out as a champion. As the dust settles who could step in and fill the void for the Ravens?
Well people let me introduce you to Manti Te’o. As Ray was to the Ravens, Te’o was that and then some for The Fighting Irish. Te’o, a unanimous First-Team All-American wowed us with his play on the field. He had 103 tackles along with 7 interceptions. His resume speaks for itself. The senior won 7 awards including the Lott Trophy, Maxwell, Chuck Bednarik, Walter Camp, Bronko Nagurski, Butkus and Lombardi Awards. He was also the runner-up in the Heisman Race to Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel. So there is precedents that can not be ignored for what Te’o accomplished in his senior season for The Fighting Irish.
You can’t ignore that he lead the Fighting Irish to an undefeated regular season and was college football stingiest defense. Now I know he ran into a buzzsaw in Alabama, but for what he went through with the internet scandal, I personally want to give him a pass for what he did in the BCS Championship game and give him a clean slate. I think he can be a solid pro in this league maybe a poor man’s London Fletcher because they’re both small in stature. I feel teams are and will put up a red flag for his internet debacle but this could be a match made in heaven for the Ravens, who are in need of a middle linebacker. So let his stock drop and my prediction is Baltimore will snag a player with a lot to prove to shut up his critics.
